The Slinger varsity tennis girls competed in the Hartford-Slinger Invite Tournament this past weekend and finished in fourth place. Slinger singles players secured three runner-up medals from Emma Sievers at one singles, Kylie Coffin at three singles, and McKenna Gartzke at four singles. Rachel Daniels was the consolation champion at two singles. Gartzke and Daniels played one doubles throughout the conference season and split to play singles on weekend tournaments; both have been very successful in their respective singles positions. The team of Josie Bjorklund and Kate Wallschlaeger earned third place at one doubles. The ten varsity girls will practice hard this week in preparation for the second half of their season. They will compete in sub-sectionals at the Pleasant Valley Tennis and Fitness Club on Tuesday, October 6 at 8:00 a.m.
